I just went through the relatively painless process of upgrading to WordPress 2.1.
For the most part, everything went fine. But one of my plugins, SimpleTags, stopped working. That left me with unsightly code embedded in some of the entries.
A cursory search of the interent didn’t provide an easy solution, so I found two other plugins that do pretty much the same thing, Ultimate Tag Warrior and SimpleTagsPlus. I hoped that one of them would do the trick.
Ultimate Tag Warrior imported all of my embedded tags, which is nice. But, it didn’t clean up any of the code. Alas. It seems like a good plugin. Though it might be overkill for the simple tagging that I do.
SimpleTagsPlus came to the rescue and by reactivating the embedded tags and hiding the embedded code. Hooray. In addition, it lets me tag to del.icio.us or Flickr, in the unlikely event that I feel like doing so. To celebrate, I’m going to tag some stuff right now!

Hi,
I noticed that you have a nice-looking tag cloud on your archive page. Might I ask how you set it up? Is there a WP plugin behind it? I’m using SimpleTagsPlus on my blog too, and have been looking for something exactly like that.

Oops, ticking the followup comments’ e-mail notification box below just gave me a horrible-looking error message after pressing ‘Submit’. I guess I’ll just have to check back here for a reply.
Hi Jani,
The tag cloud in the archives is part of the K2 theme that’s available here:
http://getk2.com
I’d love to say that I had something to do with implementing it, but it’s pretty much automatic.
I’ve seen a lot of people modify parts of K2 to suit their needs, so you may be able to pull out the tag cloud code and repurpose it for your site.
Hope that’s helpful.
Oh, and thanks for the tip about the e-mail notification error. I hadn’t known.
Thanks for the info and for your quick reply! I’ll have to look into that theme to see if I can extract the tag cloud feature from it.
And sorry about the double comment above, with the error message I thought the first one didn’t come through so I posted it again.
Just thought I’d mention what I found out: apparently, the tag cloud function of K2 is an implementation of Ultimate Tag Warrior, and so it doesn’t count tags embedded using SimpleTagsPlus.
I agree!
